7. What is NiDCOM verification?

NiDCOM verification confirms the applicant's identity and eligibility as a Nigerian living in the Diaspora. This verification is an important part of the mortgage application process.

The applicable contribution period depends on your contribution category. Under the published scheme terms, eligibility periods may range from 6 to 12 months depending on the applicant's category.

The published terms of the scheme provide for a maximum loan amount of up to ₦50 million, subject to the applicant's income, affordability assessment and other applicable requirements.

Where the portal permits changes, you may update the relevant information. If an application is already under review and an important correction is required, contact the appropriate support team for assistance.

NiDCOM's role includes verification of eligible Nigerians in the Diaspora. The mortgage financing process is undertaken through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and other approved institutions where applicable.

23. Can I use the mortgage to purchase any property in Nigeria?

Property eligibility is subject to the requirements of the mortgage scheme, FMBN and, where applicable, participating Primary Mortgage Banks (PMBs). Applicants should obtain approval before making commitments based on an expected mortgage.

24. Is there an age limit?

The published terms indicate a proposed retirement age of 70 years. The applicant's age may therefore affect the available mortgage repayment period.

25. How will I know if my application has been approved?
